The Manor Series was created to bring dancers closer to the artists, choreographers and creatives actively shaping the dance industry. Each volume offers a different perspective on the world beyond the studio — putting dancers in the room with people who are not only working professionally, but actively contributing to the culture around them.

For Volume 3, Industry, the focus was on that connection between training and the professional world. Rather than simply learning choreography, dancers were invited to experience the energy, perspective and movement language of an artist working within the industry today.

For the third volume, Amber Rae brought her own approach to the room. A dancer, choreographer, teacher and founder of Empress LDN, Amber has built a career across Dancehall, heels and commercial choreography, working with artists including Wizkid, Stefflon Don, Lizzo, Ms Banks, Sean Paul and Vybz Kartel. Through Empress LDN, she has also created a platform centred around women in dance, community and performance.

For her Manor Series class, Amber choreographed to Rema’s Love, bringing her distinctive musicality and performance style to the studio. The session was an opportunity for dancers to train with an artist actively working within the industry while experiencing the movement language that has shaped Amber’s career.

Volume 3 is part of what The Manor Series is ultimately about: bringing the industry into the room and giving dancers the opportunity to learn from it first-hand.
