CHOREOGRAPHY BY ALEX CHAMBERS
ARTIST: JANINE - 3AM
LOCATION: THE MANOR LDN DANCE STUDIO, FINSBURY PARK, NORTH LONDON
For Alex Chambers, movement starts before the first step. Having come to dance later than many, after sport was initially his passion, Alex trained locally in Adlington before continuing his training in Manchester. It was there that he discovered a natural connection with musicality and dynamics — and developed a choreographic approach built around truly listening to the track.
For Alex, that means hearing everything: the lyrics, the layers within an artist’s vocals, the rhythm, the flow and the details that can easily be missed. His style has been described as smooth, slick, fresh and effortless, but underneath that ease is a deep attention to musical detail.
That instinct has taken him from the studio to some of the biggest stages in the world. Alex has worked with artists including Ariana Grande, Rita Ora, Little Mix, Camila Cabello, Cheryl and the Pussycat Dolls, while his choreography credits include the Euro 2020 Closing Ceremony, Team GB Homecoming, KSI, Rag’n’Bone Man and HRVY.
For this choreography, Alex turns his attention to Janine’s “3AM”, the New Zealand artist’s 2019 single. Produced by Janine and Shawn Benn, the track takes a more intimate approach, built around late-night emotion, understated production and Janine’s soulful vocals.
It is the kind of track where every detail matters — exactly where Alex’s choreography comes alive.
