The Manor Series: Johnny Bishop: The Performer Who Refuses One Lane

Johnny Bishop’s career has never belonged to just one stage. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Johnny moved to London at 11 to train at Sylvia Young Theatre School, beginning a journey that would take him from some of the West End’s biggest productions to film sets, television and international live performance.

His theatre credits alone span an impressive range. Johnny was part of the original London casts of Hamilton, Moulin Rouge! The Musical and MJ the Musical, while his roles have included Graffiti Pete in In the Heights and Young Simba in The Lion King. Away from the stage, his screen work includes Disney’s The Little Mermaid and Mary Poppins Returns, as well as ABC’s Galavant.

Then there is the world of pop. Johnny has performed with artists including One Direction, Justin Bieber, Nick Jonas, will.i.am, Fleur East, Rebecca Ferguson and Cher Lloyd, alongside commercial work for brands including H&M and House of Fraser. That ability to move between theatre, screen and live music has become one of the defining qualities of his career.

For The Manor Series, Johnny brought that breadth of experience into the studio with choreography set to Paula Abdul’s “The Way That You Love Me”. The track gives the class a chance to explore groove, performance and musicality through Johnny’s own creative approach.
