CHOREOGRAPHY BY SABRINA PHILLIP
ARTIST: KATSEYE - HOOTIE FRUTTI
LOCATION: THE MANOR LDN DANCE STUDIO, FINSBURY PARK, NORTH LONDON
For Sabrina Phillip, movement has always been about more than simply learning choreography. Originally from Canada, Sabrina trained extensively in ballet, jazz and modern dance before taking her career internationally, eventually working in London and developing a reputation as both a choreographer and teacher. Her approach brings together technical understanding, physical strength and a strong sense of artistry.
That foundation has taken Sabrina across the dance world. She has taught masterclasses at institutions including Pineapple, Danceworks and Urdang Academy, before travelling internationally to work with studios, universities, conventions and workshops across Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Alongside teaching, she has performed with dance companies including Tessandra Chavez’s Unity Dance Ensemble and continued to develop her own choreographic work.
Contemporary movement sits at the heart of Sabrina’s creative identity. Her work is known for combining athleticism and technique, while her background in Exercise and Health Physiology has given her an additional understanding of the mechanics of movement. As a teacher, she places emphasis on placement, strength, agility and helping dancers understand how their bodies work — not simply what steps they are doing.
At The Manor LDN, Sabrina brings that perspective to KATSEYE’s “Hootie Frutti”. The choreography gives dancers a chance to explore the rhythm and energy of the track through her movement language, while experiencing the precision, physicality and artistry that have shaped Sabrina’s career.
