From Britney Spears to Beyoncé, Brian Friedman has spent three decades creating the movement language behind some of pop’s biggest moments.

Brian Friedman has never been interested in dance existing in isolation. A dancer, choreographer, creative director and educator, his career has been built around the relationship between movement, music and performance. From starting out as a performer to becoming one of the most recognisable creative voices in commercial dance, Brian has spent more than 30 years developing a style that continues to influence the industry.

His career reads like a timeline of pop culture. Brian has choreographed and creatively directed for artists including Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Rihanna, Ciara, Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Cher and Sam Smith. His work extends across music videos, tours, television, film and some of the biggest award shows in the world, while his television credits include The X Factor, America’s Got Talent, Britain’s Got Talent and So You Think You Can Dance.

But alongside the major productions and global artists, teaching has remained central to Brian’s work. Through projects including The Pulse on Tour, The Main Event and Radix Dance Convention, he has spent years mentoring dancers and sharing the creative thinking behind commercial performance. His approach is rooted in individuality, musicality and a strong understanding of how movement can become part of an artist’s identity.
