From Toronto’s hip-hop scene to global stages, Luther Brown has spent decades shaping the way movement meets music, performance and culture.

For Luther Brown, dance has always been about more than the steps. Born in Kingston, Jamaica and raised in Toronto, Luther grew up surrounded by music, developing his ear while helping his father with his Toronto radio show. That connection between music and movement would become central to his career, eventually leading him to build one of Canada’s most influential hip-hop dance communities through Do Dat Entertainment.

Over the years, Luther’s work has travelled far beyond Toronto. He has choreographed for artists including Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Ciara, Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion and Daddy Yankee, while his work across television includes So You Think You Can Dance, Step Up: High Water and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. He has also received two Emmy nominations, alongside an extensive body of work across tours, film, television and live performance.

But teaching remains an important part of Luther’s creative practice. His approach is rooted in musicality, performance and the foundations of hip-hop, shaped by decades of working at the highest levels of the industry. When Luther steps into a studio, he brings that experience with him — not simply teaching movement, but sharing the creative thinking behind it.

At The Manor LDN, that legacy meets A$AP Rocky’s “Trunks”, with Luther bringing his own interpretation of the track to the studio floor. The result is a class built around groove, texture, musicality and attitude — a chance to experience the movement language of one of the most established names in commercial hip-hop choreography.
