Amélie Pollock: A New Voice in Jazz

For Amélie Pollock, dance has always been about more than learning choreography. After extensive training in Australia and New York, she has developed a strong foundation in jazz alongside a growing career as a performer and teacher. Her approach is shaped by a love of performance and a desire to keep exploring where movement can take her.

Before making London home, Amélie built experience across Australia, working with some of the country’s leading creatives. Her credits include performing as part of the ensemble for Metamuse, appearing as a dancer in The Deb film, and performing with the Lord Mayor Christmas Carols. Each experience has added another layer to her understanding of performance — from the precision of ensemble work to the storytelling required on screen.

Now based in London, Amélie is continuing to develop her career while sharing what she has learned through teaching. Her classes are rooted in jazz, but her experience across different training environments gives her a broader perspective on performance, musicality and movement. At The Manor LDN, she brings that perspective into the studio, creating a space for dancers to explore the style while finding their own connection to the music.

For her latest class, Amélie takes on Amy Winehouse’s “Me & Mr. Jones” — a track from the 2006 album Back to Black known for its jazz and soul influences. The result is a choreography that gives Amélie’s jazz foundations room to breathe, bringing together musicality, character and performance at The Manor LDN.
