Johnny Bishop: From Trinidad to the West End's Biggest Stages

West End royalty, Disney credits, and a decade dancing for pop's biggest names

21 August 2026 · 2 min read

CHOREOGRAPHY BY JOHNNY BISHOP

ARTIST: CHRIS BROWN - STUCK ON STUPID

LOCATION: THE MANOR LDN, DANCE STUDIO, FINSBURY PARK, NORTH LONDON

Some performers specialise. Johnny Bishop refuses to. A professional dancer, actor, and educator whose career spans the West End, film, television, and live music, Bishop brings genuine, wide-ranging industry experience into every class he teaches — and a resume that reads like a tour through the last decade of British theatre and global pop culture in equal measure.

Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Bishop moved to London at just 11 years old to train at the Sylvia Young Theatre School — the same foundation that's produced some of British entertainment's most recognisable names. That training built a West End career most performers only dream of: original London cast credits in Hamilton, MJ the Musical, and Moulin Rouge! The Musical, alongside standout roles including Graffiti Pete in In the Heights and Young Simba in The Lion King.

His range extends well past the stage. On screen, Bishop's credits include Disney's The Little Mermaid and Mary Poppins Returns, alongside ABC's Galavant — proof that his versatility translates just as convincingly to film and television as it does to live performance. And beyond both stage and screen, he's danced for a genuinely staggering list of global artists: One Direction, Justin Bieber, Nick Jonas, will.i.am, Fleur East, Rebecca Ferguson, and Cher Lloyd, alongside campaign work for H&M and House of Fraser.

That combination — West End pedigree, screen credits, and a touring pop résumé — is exactly what makes Bishop's dynamic stage presence and infectious energy translate so directly into how he teaches. Dancers training with him aren't just learning choreography from someone who's performed at a high level; they're learning from someone who's proven that range across nearly every format the industry offers, brought directly into a single class at The Manor LDN.
