Theatre Kid. Broadway performer. Choreographer. Teacher. Tanner Lane has built a career around one thing: performing full out. A New York-based performer and choreographer, Tanner’s movement is shaped by a background that crosses musical theatre, jazz, heels and commercial dance — bringing together precision, character and serious performance energy.

After studying Musical Theatre at Florida State University, Tanner joined the Broadway National Tour of Chicago the Musical, performing across the US as well as internationally in South Korea, Japan and the Philippines. Back in New York, he became the only person to have performed as both a singer and dancer in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. His choreography career has grown alongside his performance work, including the Las Culturistas 2024 Culture Awards with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, alongside choreography for regional productions and live events.

There’s a clear thread running through all of it: performance. Tanner has spoken about his love of going full out, while recognising that his choreography has become an amalgamation of the different styles and experiences that have shaped him. His time performing Fosse-inspired movement in Chicago, precision work at Radio City, street jazz and heels have all fed into the way he now creates and teaches.

That energy landed at The Manor LDN, where Tanner brought his take on Bonnie Tyler’s iconic “Holding Out for a Hero” from Footloose into the studio. The result is exactly what you would expect from a performer with Tanner’s background: theatrical, dynamic and built to be performed — not simply learnt.
